Rowandan Women Creating Banana Leaf Cards
Giving Back Through HOPE International
Wenger Gallery is pleased to announce an extended alliance with HOPE International.HOPE International is a local micro finance organization working in various developing countries. Wenger Gallery hopes to use the connection with Hope International to find and exhibit talented artists from their existing client base.

To begin the venture Wenger Gallery will exhibit and sell hand crafted stationery from Rwanda. The cards come to us through Arms to Artisans an organization led locally by Laurel Greer. The cards will become a part of the regular inventory at Wenger Gallery. Hope International and Arms to Artisans focus on bringing the poorest of the working poor into the regular global economy, thus helping end poverty on an individual basis; one family at a time, one dream at a time. donations can be made directly at www.HopeInternational.com.

These banana leaf cards are made in Africa by widows of the Rwandan genocide. The sustainable income from the sale of their cards helps make individual and community changes. Women are able to improve housing, pay school fees for their children, and purchase medicine and better food for their families. Their new prosperity in turn improves the economy of this rural area of Rwanda. In addition, the net proceeds of the sales will go to Hope International to help more artisans and merchants begin or improve their businesses and communities.
