![](javascript:dynamic(200, "/_images/A_New_Day72.jpg", "Artwork Reflects A New Day<br /><br />A new painting by local artist Elsie Beiler will be the center of attention at Wenger Gallery in June, capped by an artist’s reception and signing on June 20 and 21.<br /><br />Beiler’s new piece was created at the suggestion of many of her friends who keep in their hearts images of the Nickel Mines tragedy of 2006. Her piece, A New Day, shows children playing in the yard of the new school—it strays from the theme of remembrance associated in her first two paintings on the subject and pays homage to everyone who helped the school and community rebuild.<br /><br />“It’s a new step for everyone,” Beiler says. “We’re at a new place now. The painting actually shows some of the gifts from the community.”<br /><br />Gifts like the playground equipment, basketball net, and the school itself. In the painting, children are playing and walking to school like it was the first day.<br /><br />Beiler will be signing prints and limited editions of A New Day at Wenger Gallery on Friday, June 20 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 21 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.<br /><br />Wenger Gallery is located at 2811 Lincoln Highway East in Ronks above Miller’s Smorgasbord, one mile east of route 896 and at www.wengergallery.com. The works were commissioned by Barbie Beiler, a relative of the current Witness Farm owner. The Old Order Amish farm in Strasburg, Lancaster County is where the 1985 award-winning movie “Witness” starring Harrison Ford was filmed. The Stoltzfus works depict scenes of the farm in each season of the year. The original works will be on exhibit at the Gallery July 15 - 31 , 2005.
